Sandy Lucas studied film at the University of WisconsinMadison, where she programmed films for the student union and the Wisconsin Film Festival. Her work-study job at the Wisconsin Center for Film & Theater Research, one of the world's major archives of research materials relating to the entertainment industry, allowed her hands-on access (albeit white-gloved hands) to many, many archival prints and still photographs of classic films. Sandys memorable first assignment was painstakingly photocopying hundreds of fragile newspaper and magazine clippings featuring screen sex symbol Rudy Valentino, requested by his biographer.
Sandys short film The Goddaughter, a personal documentary about her own obsession with The Godfather trilogy, was screened publicly in Madison and Pittsburgh (and living rooms throughout the country).
Sandy lives in Portland, Oregon and raises money for a variety of non-profits as a grant writer. In addition to the classics, she is a rabid fan of Bollywood and Japanese cinema.
