Why Burton's star has been conspicuously absent despite other well-known Welch actors like Ray Milland and Anthony Hopkins receiving theirs has remained a mystery. But a Western Mail campaign in conjunction with 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment led the charge by raising the necessary $30,000 to purchase the honor.
With the star set to be placed on March 1st, the timing couldn't be be more perfect since that date happens to be St. David's Day, a celebratory feast day for Wales' patron saint. It also happens to coincide with the 50th anniversary of 1963's Cleopatra, one of the most notorious box office flops of all time and the film that led to Burton's tumultuous two marriages to Taylor.
The star will be placed next to Taylor's own which currently resides on 6336 Hollywood Blvd., right next to Ivar St. and directly across from the L. Ron Hubbard Life Exhibition.
