The New Year starts off right with a number of choice classic movies making their debuts on the popular Blu-ray format this month.
Among those making the transfer are the classic 1932 melodrama, Grand Hotel, starring John Barrymore, Lionel Barrymore, Greta Garbo and Joan Crawford. Also debuting on the format is the original 1962 version of Cape Fear with Gregory Peck as a small town lawyer whose family is terrorized by vengeance-minded ex-convict Max Cady, played by Robert Mitchum.
Next up is William Wyler's stirring, but sometimes overly sentimental wartime drama, Mrs. Miniver (1942), and Alfred Hitchcock's original version of The Man Who Knew Too Much (1934), which was made during The Master's famed British period.
Rounding out this month's releases is Elia Kazan's groundbreaking drama about racial prejudice, Gentleman's Agreement (1947), and the surprisingly heartwarming romantic comedy, The Quiet Man (1952), starring John Wayne in an atypical performance and directed by John Ford.
As always, this month's Blu-ray releases make for great gifts for the classic movie buff and casual moviegoer alike.
