What to Watch on TCM this Weekend
Turner Classic Movies continues its "Night at the Movies" series on thrillers tonight with a look at political thrillers. They've got the sublimely trippy Manchurian Candidate on tap, which features Angela Lansbury in a wonderfully wicked, chilling performance. She's a bad mother, and I don't mean like Shaft. You can also catch The Boys From Brazil, a lovely story about where the Nazis went to keep up with their evil after World War II.
On Saturday, folks who liked the remake of 3:10 to Yuma can see the original movie, which I think is one of Glenn Ford's best turns.
And on Sunday, I'd recommend the most excellent Treasure of the Sierra Madre, with Humphrey Bogart playing a thoroughly despicable role, and Walter Huston in an Oscar-winning performance directed by his son, John Huston.
Enjoy!
