Plan 9 turns 50

Monday September 14, 2009

A milestone for lovers of cinematic schlock and movies so bad they're good.

Plan 9 From Outer Space, the wretched sci-fi/horror flick almost universally reviled as the worst film in the whole history of ever, is turning 50 this year.

This one has it all - terrible acting, an incomprehensible plot line, cardboard props, bad makeup, ridiculous costumes and laugh-out-loud "special effects." Bela Lugosi, a sad shadow of himself, died during filming and was replaced by a dentist who looked nothing like him. The whole thing is brought together under the sure hand of the world's worst director and sweetly delusionary cross-dresser, Ed Wood.

Happy birthday, your badness!
