More Marilyn, More of the Time

Thursday November 20, 2008
It seems that Marilyn Monroe's fame - and the profitability of her image - will never fade

Now, after a court battle solved legal issues over the use of photos of the tragic star, a company called Legends Licensing will be able to license some of its 10,000 images of Monroe without paying royalties to her heirs -- driving fees down and profits up, according to a California newspaper.

The firm also licenses the image sof other dead celebrities, including Elvis and John Wayne. It has created a Marilyn Monroe division to handle an expected quadrupling of its business. Her image has been used to sell everything from wine to clocks, with more to come.

If she were alive today, she'd be 82.
