George Clooney Tapped for The Birds

Wednesday October 29, 2008
Speaking of remakes, the rumor is around and about that George Clooney is the choice to star in the planned remake of Alfred Hitchcock's surreal thriller The Birds.

Naomi Watts is on tap to play the female lead, and I can't argue with the casting choices. Clooney would be a worthy replacement for Rod Taylor as the hero in the original.

Hitchcock managed to terrify us with some real birds and a few animatronic specimens. I know that with today's technology, the special effects can be, well, more effective. If they ever actually get around to remaking this, I just hope they don't forget the story and the characters are more important than the special effects.

Nobody wants The Birds to be a turkey...
