Bette's Cig Down the Memory Hole?
Monday October 6, 2008
I'm not sure, but a number of folks on the net seem to think the U.S. Postal Service removed the cigarette from the gloved hand of Miss Bette Davis in the recently released stamp honoring the diva.
The classic movie star, who died of breast cancer, smoked pretty much non stop, and a recent study of tobacco company documents showed she was paid to use cigarettes in movies, photo shoots and high-profile events.
At first I thought she was meant to be clutching her elegant coat to her neck, in a costume I think she wore in All About Eve. But it does look like you could slip a cig between her first and second fingers. What do you think?

Just another example of the PC Fascistic era we live in..I’m sure Bette would have been appalled..who’s next cigar removal from Groucho and Sir Winston Churchill? “Oh, brother!”, as Davis would say!
