Collector's Edition of A Passage to India

Monday April 14, 2008

To honor the 100th anniversary of director David Lean's birth, Sony has released a new collector's edition DVD and Blu-Ray of A Passage to India, E.M. Forster's classic novel of racism in colonial India.

Dame Peggy Ashcroft won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role, and stars with the wonderful Sir Alec Guinness, Judy Davis and Victor Bannerjee. While it does not reach the sweeping heights of such Lean masterpieces as Lawrence of Arabia and Doctor Zhivago, it's still an absorbing movie, beautifully acted.

The new release contains several extras, including profiles of Forster and Lean, a feature on casting a classic novel, and a look at the process of filming on location in India.
