The top-grossing female box-office star of all time, Doris Day, will be among eight singing stars awarded a lifetime achievement Grammy from the recording industry this year. She joins luminaries including Cab Calloway of Blues Brothers fame, country banjo picker Earl Scruggs, Robbie Robertson of The Band and and Burt Bacharach among this year's honorees.
The pretty blonde star, always a heroine on screen, had a great set of pipes, too. She combined her talents in Alfred Hitchcock's The Man Who Knew Too Much, singing her megahit "Que Sera, Sera." She sang in a number of films -- see our top ten list of her movies here.

LOVE DORIS DAY FOR ALL THE MUSIC BUT EVEN MORE FOR HELPING ALL OUR ANIMAL FRIENDS!
Very very please.
This award is way long overdue for one of America’s greatest talents!! It’s about time she was recognized.
Well, Doris Day is getting a lot of recognition these days, but they’ve waited so long to give it to her, it’s like they ran out of legends.
Over the years, I’ve watch so many lesser stars getting these accolades and wondered, “Why not Doris Day? No star has been bigger or had such a spectacular careeras Miss Day.” The “oversight” probably had a lot to do with the Doris Day backlash that started in the late ’60s.
There has been a lot of talk (over the years) about a special Oscar for Miss Day and with the upcoming Academy Awards, the “talk” has started again. Day should have been honored by all of these organizations long before now. They’ve waited until she’s in her 80s. How cruel can they be?
I too am totally dissappointed in the Academy & The Grammys for overlooking Doris Day for decades after one of the most spectacular movie & singing careers ever. They have not only snubbed her but her huge on going fan base. She is a an incomparable talent, one of the leaders of a huge humanitarian effort in this country, but she has been ignored by her peers. When the likes of many lesser talents, & lesser careers have been so honored immediately. This like so much else wrong in this country smells like rotten politics. While they are at, maybe they should also award her an apology I believe she deserves that almost as much.
I am so happy that Doris is being given this award but why leave it so long. She is a legend and in my opinion one of the best female singers of all time with a voice no one else can match. Also I feel her work with the animal foundation should also be honoured in some way. When Doris sings she can brighten the gloomiest of days.
