Growing Up on the Classics

Tuesday July 24, 2007

This looks like a fun book from the Boston Globe film writer Ty Burr - "The Best Old Movies for Families."

I've always believed that kids should start watching the classics early, and Burr has some great suggestions. For the very young, he suggests some of the great old silent films with plenty of physical comedy, or fast-paced singing and dancing spectaculars like Singin' in the Rain.

And for the 7-12 year-olds, he picks two of my own favorites, Some Like it Hot and Bringing Up Baby. You can find my personal picks for kid-friendly classics here.
