Wide Screen on the Small Screen

Thursday May 31, 2007
If you're in the mood to waste some serious time on the computer, head over to Turner Classic Movie's new media room. I gotta say, this is really fun.

They've got all kinds of original movie trailers, movie clips, featurettes and even an occasional full-length feature film -- all shown in wide screen format, no pan and scan. There's hundreds of clips to browse through.

Right now, my favorites are a hilariously campy short film with glamorous actress Constance Bennett revealing her daily beauty riitual secrets. She apparently woke up in full makeup and perfectly coifed every day, applied various face creams and even took a bath, all without smudging her lipstick and eyeliner. It's a hoot.

There's also "making of" clips like "The World of Soylent Green" and just straight-on film clips -- head over for a little dose of Casablanca when you need a classic move pick-me-up.
